Occupational Therapy

A child's occupation is to be a kid! Through the use of play, our occupational therapists help children acquire the skills needed for the job of living. These skills include, but are not limited to:

Promoting independence in daily living skills including dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, bathing and sleeping Facilitating developmental play skills Facilitating motor development and motor planning skills Improving fine motor skills (i.e. grasping and reaching for toys, manipulating fasteners, handwriting) Improving oral motor skills and/or oral aversions (i.e. picky eating or over stuffing mouth) Improving sensory processing skills such as organization, self-regulation and social-emotional development Improving visual motor and visual perceptual skills Addressing orthopedic complications and helping to increase function through the use of splinting, modifications or adaptive equipment.

All of Speech Source Therapy Inc. occupational therapists have either a Master's degree in OT and are certified by the California State Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Occupational Therapy. The Speech Source Therapy Inc. OT team attends continuing education courses, conferences and on-going staff development programs in order to maintain the skills necessary to remain on top of their field.

Speech Source Therapy Inc. facility includes a therapy and sensory integration gym with the necessary equipment to ensure the needs and best quality of care for our patients.

Our Teletherapy Services Have Been Very Successful

"My four-year-old son Elijah was diagnosed with Autism at two years old. He has been attending Speech Source Therapy for over a year and a half now. Irene was amazing with assisting us in starting his services right away. Since the beginning we were very happy with the support and therapy he received! Once the covid-19 pandemic hit my husband and I were worried about how we would continue to get him the help he needed. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to give teletherapy a shot. Speech Source transitioned us into teletherapy via Zoom and we could not have been happier with the decision! Throughout the past five months Elijah's language development has been flourishing! We're constantly hearing him produce more sounds, say more words, and he's even been able to tell me " I love you" a few times.
